Vortex Updates, But Faster

Last week, I needed to call into Creamsource for from technical assistance.  While I was on the phone, Sean Goosen told me a little nugget of gold to speed up your updating process.

When you are updating, you put your USB drive with the firmware in and power up the unit.  There is a progress bar from 0-100%.  By the time you hit 50%, you can remove your USB drive.

Apparently, the file is uploaded by that time, so it’s safe to unplug (I can verify- it worked great).  Though the update takes as long as it take, this allows you to move on down the line with your flash drive and get through the work faster.

If you have any sort of tricks you’ve learned like this, please share them in the comments. Production never gives us enough time and every moment counts!

Glad my writing has been helpful and ALWAYS glad to hear of a rental company that is updating firmware! Too often I end up with twelve fixtures with five different firmwares on them.
